Prabowo: Not All Young People Should Aspire to Be Civil Servants

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto wants not all young people to become Civil Servants (ASN) or work in government. ‘We want young people not to all aspire to be ASN, not everyone to seek government employment,’ Prabowo said during the DPR Plenary Session at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. Prabowo instead encouraged young people to become entrepreneurs because Indonesia has thousands of great young people. ‘This is what we are currently shaping together for us to provide not only entrepreneurship education. Once they finish, we must provide startup credit,’ Prabowo said. Prabowo wants young people to grow into big entrepreneurs. ‘We must push them, give them the opportunity to grow into strong, new entrepreneurs,’ he added. According to him, private companies should follow in their footsteps to have a bigger role for the country. ‘We must push our private sector to excel,’ he said.
