House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani has revealed that M Sarjito is the presidential nominee for Head of the Strategic Mineral and Commodities Exchange at the Financial Services Authority (OJK), submitted through a Presidential Letter to the DPR.

She said Commission XI of the DPR has been tasked with processing the name in accordance with the applicable mechanisms, provisions, and laws.

“The name is Mr M Sarjito, who will be processed according to the mechanism in Commission XI,” Puan said during a press conference following a plenary session at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.

She also stated that Commission XI will process the names nominated by the President to fill the positions of Governor of Bank Indonesia, Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, and Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia.

“Starting today, they will be processed according to the mechanism in Commission XI,” she said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto set a target for Indonesia to have a Strategic Mineral and Commodities Exchange operational by 1 January 2027.

In his delivery of the Government’s Introductory Statement on the Draft Law on the 2027 State Budget and its Financial Note at the MPR building in Jakarta on Friday, he expressed hope that the provisions governing the exchange could be discussed and issued by the DPR within a short timeframe.

“With the support of the DPR, our plan is that on 1 January 2027 we will have our own commodities exchange. We are targeting the provisions for the operation of the Strategic Mineral and Commodities Exchange to be discussed with the DPR immediately and request that they be issued in the shortest possible time,” President Prabowo said.

President Prabowo said the establishment of the exchange is a further stage of the single-door export policy currently being implemented by the government. The government has also discussed the plan with the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
