Prabowo: No State Can Succeed Without Cleansing Itself of Corruption
President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating corruption and various forms of embezzlement that harm the state. The Head of State made these remarks during his address at the State-Level Commemoration of Nuzul al-Quran 1447 H/2026 M at the State Palace on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
The Head of State emphasised that corrupt practices and abuse of power represent a serious threat to national progress. Consequently, the government is committed to eliminating various practices that harm the people and ensuring that state wealth is utilised to the fullest extent for the benefit of society.
“Indeed, we must eliminate corruption, embezzlement, all practices that are wrong and improper and forbidden by all religions. This is a religious teaching, and it is also a lesson from history. There is no state that succeeds when its government cannot cleanse itself of corruption. This is a teaching from religion and history,” Prabowo stated firmly.
The Head of State further highlighted the importance of preserving national wealth to ensure it truly benefits the people’s welfare. He noted that Indonesia possesses enormous resources that should be utilised to address various social problems, including poverty and hunger.
“We have been given an abundance of wealth by the Almighty. On this occasion, I reaffirm that we must strive hard to eliminate poverty, hunger, and suffering from all our people. We must not allow any of our citizens to be abandoned. We have the capacity, and we have been granted sufficient wealth by the Almighty,” he said.
The President further stressed that the government will not tolerate those who attempt to seize the people’s wealth for personal or group interests. “We must not be defeated by those who want to take the people’s wealth, take it to other countries, and keep the Indonesian nation and people in a weak state. I am grateful, I am thankful, on this good evening, I continue to receive lessons, warnings, and renewed motivation,” Prabowo added.
The Head of State called upon all sectors of the nation, including religious scholars, community leaders, and all Indonesian people to jointly preserve integrity and strengthen commitment to building a clean and just government.
