Prabowo: No region should be left behind due to limited road access
President Prabowo Subianto has stressed that no region should be left behind simply because of limited road access. “Brothers and sisters, we are determined that no region shall be left behind merely due to limited access. We must lower logistics costs for all the people and our economy,” the President said during the inauguration of the completed 2025 Presidential Instruction (Inpres) for Regional Roads, spanning 1,151 km across Indonesia, in Sampang Regency, Madura, East Java, on Tuesday. Monitored via a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, Prabowo stated that road construction is a vital part of supporting equitable development and economic growth across all regions of Indonesia. “Indonesia is a very large country with a vast territory and diverse geographical conditions. Transport costs will become cheaper if there are sufficient roads, if there is connectivity between all production centres and residential areas,” the President said. The Head of State also emphasised that reducing logistics costs is one of the goals of regional road development to support the national economy. Furthermore, good roads are part of the national resilience strategy. “Good roads are part of our resilience strategy. Food self-sufficiency is not just about seeds, fertiliser, and irrigation. Energy self-sufficiency is not just about energy. It is also the result of smooth and good distribution networks. Energy must be able to reach communities from productive areas,” the President stated. President Prabowo symbolically inaugurated the construction of 1,151 kilometres of regional roads spread across 37 provinces throughout Indonesia, in Sampang Regency, East Java, as a manifestation of equitable national development. He explained that the construction and improvement of the 1,151 kilometres of roads in 37 provinces was supported by a state budget (APBN) allocation of Rp5.41 trillion. All work, he said, has been 100 percent completed and is ready for public use. “All of this work has been strictly quality-controlled, carried out in a planned, measurable, and accountable manner. It is now 100 percent complete and can be directly utilised by the public,” said Dody. Dody added that road infrastructure development is no longer concentrated in certain areas but reaches various regions across Indonesia to support economic growth and national connectivity.
