Prabowo: No One Should Be Above the Law

President Prabowo Subianto has urged all members of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to uphold the law fairly and without discrimination. He stated that the law must serve as a protector and provide a sense of security for the people.

The statement was made during the peak celebration of the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary at the Brimob Training Centre in Cikeas, Bogor, on Wednesday, 1 July 2026.

“Our country is a state of law, therefore the law must be upheld, respected, and honoured. The law must be the protector of the people, the law must provide a sense of security for honest citizens,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo also emphasised that the law must not be sharp downwards and blunt upwards. He stated that the law must not become a tool for those with money.

“The law must be a place of refuge for the weak. The law must not be sharp downwards and blunt upwards,” he said.

“The law must not become a tool for those who have money. The law must not become a tool for political revenge. The law must not be used for the interests of any group whatsoever. There must be no criminalisation. There must be no abuse of authority, and no one should be immune to the law,” he continued.

Prabowo said that the weakest people must receive protection. Citizens seeking truth and justice must be served.

“Those who are in the right must feel safe. Those who are guilty must be held accountable for their actions,” concluded Prabowo.
