Prabowo: No Nation Will Pity Indonesia If Its Citizens Go Hungry

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto stated that no nation would pity Indonesia if its people faced hardship and hunger.

“Indeed, no other nation will pity us if we are in difficulty, if our people are hungry, if our people are in hardship—no other nation or power will show compassion or provide assistance,” Prabowo said during the Pancasila Birthday Ceremony at the Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on Monday, 1 June 2026.

He stressed that no country can be independent without prosperity.

“We do not wish to be a nation dependent on others,” he added.
