Prabowo: National Police Must Always Protect, Serve, and Devote Themselves to the People
President Prabowo Subianto led the 80th Bhayangkara Day Commemoration Ceremony at the Korbrimob Training Unit Field in Cikeas, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Wednesday. In his address, he stressed the importance of the Indonesian National Police’s role in maintaining security, public order, and supporting various national strategic agendas. “The National Police are here for the people. The National Police work for the people. The National Police must protect the people. The National Police devote themselves to the nation and state,” Prabowo said. Prabowo stated that the Indonesian nation is currently at a moment of great transformation amidst a world situation full of uncertainty. This transformation, he continued, is being carried out to realise Indonesia as a modern, prosperous, and just country. “We are undertaking economic transformation, bureaucratic transformation, educational transformation, food transformation, and energy transformation. Our transformation is so that Indonesia becomes a modern country, a country prosperous in justice. A country that stands on the sovereignty of the people,” Prabowo said. The President explained that stability and security are crucial foundations for realising national development. Therefore, he said, the role of the National Police is very strategic in creating conditions that support economic growth, legal certainty, and public welfare. “There can be no strong country without a state apparatus trusted by the people, loyal to the people, and that protects the people. Therefore, the role of the police is very important, very strategic, very decisive,” Prabowo said. In addition, Prabowo expressed his appreciation to all members of the National Police who continue to carry out their duties of maintaining public security and order. According to him, the National Police, together with other government institutions, continues to transform and improve itself to build a police force that is increasingly trusted by the people. “I have also seen for myself how the National Police, along with other institutions of the Republic of Indonesia, continue to transform, continue to improve themselves, continue to work hard to build a superior police force, one that the Indonesian people aspire to,” Prabowo explained. He noted that the National Police has a distinctive character because it was born from the history of the independence struggle. Therefore, Prabowo hopes the National Police will be in the midst of society and present in various people’s issues. “In our war of independence, the police actively participated, took part in the battles. Because of that, the Indonesian National Police has the characteristic of always being in the midst of the people, and must always defend the people, feel the suffering of the people,” Prabowo said. In his address, Prabowo also appreciated the involvement of the National Police in various national strategic programmes, ranging from food security, disaster management, maintaining price stability, to supporting the Free Nutritious Meals programme. The 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration serves as a momentum to further strengthen the commitment of the National Police as a professional, modern institution loved by the people. “The National Police are present in the villages, the National Police are present at the borders. I have seen for myself how the National Police’s food security programme greatly assists national food security, particularly in corn production. I have seen for myself, the National Police building much-needed food warehouses,” Prabowo said.
