Prabowo: Narcotics, Online Gambling, and White Collar Crime Harm the Nation
President Prabowo Subianto has highlighted various criminal cases that pose a major threat to the Indonesian nation. Prabowo reminded members of the National Police to anticipate forms of crime that continue to evolve with technological developments. “Threats change, technology can also be used with malicious intent. Therefore, our working methods must also adapt,” Prabowo said during his address at the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (1/7/2026). Prabowo then mentioned several criminal cases that must be the focus of the National Police, noting various illegal activities that harm the Indonesian nation. “Ladies and gentlemen, I emphasise once again, narcotics are a very great threat to our nation, online gambling is a threat that greatly harms our nation, human trafficking, cybercrime, terrorism, corruption, smuggling, other illegal activities, illegal mines, illegal plantations, and white-collar crime practices, all greatly harm our nation,” Prabowo stated. Prabowo expressed appreciation for the various actions taken by the National Police to eradicate these cases, including uncovering narcotics cases and combating online gambling. “I appreciate the success of the National Police, together with other institutions, in continuously dismantling and uncovering thousands of narcotics cases, and together with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs in eradicating online gambling, as well as successfully maintaining zero terrorist incidents in recent years. This is an achievement we must value,” Prabowo said. However, Prabowo reminded the police not to be complacent or easily satisfied, noting that future challenges remain significant. “Our people still suffer from poverty, and this poverty is a direct result of corruption, smuggling, and illegal economic activities,” Prabowo concluded.
