Prabowo: Mr Bahlil Says Fuel is Secure, So Stay Calm
President Prabowo Subianto has asked all parties to remain calm amid the global volatility that has persisted over the past few weeks, particularly concerning petroleum fuels (BBM). “Mr Bahlil (Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources) says it’s secure, so stay calm,” Prabowo stated during the Indonesian President’s Briefing at the Working Meeting of the Government Members of the Red and White Cabinet at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026). Nevertheless, Prabowo emphasised that the government is not taking a lax approach without action. In response to the existing issues, the government has prepared policies as anticipatory measures to avoid burdening the public. “Secure does not mean we are taking it easy; we are working and staying vigilant,” he explained. The government has assured that supplies of energy such as BBM and LPG in Indonesia remain secure. Prices for subsidised BBM are even confirmed not to rise until the end of the year. For Prabowo, the ongoing crisis presents an opportunity for Indonesia to grow stronger. “We must work better, more efficiently; we must not be wasteful, there must be no leaks, and no corruption,” he concluded.
