Prabowo Moved, Reveals Loyal Comrades-in-Arms During Difficult Times
President Prabowo Subianto regards the National Mandate Party (PAN) as a true comrade-in-arms. This sentiment was shared by Prabowo while attending the 28th anniversary celebrations of PAN at the Jakarta International Convention Centre (JICC), Senayan, on Friday (18/09/2026).
Prabowo admitted that it was difficult for him to deliver his speech because he felt he was standing amongst comrades who have been an integral part of his political journey.
“Brothers and sisters, it is difficult to speak. In truth, I am present amongst loyal comrades-in-arms,” said Prabulo during the PAN 28th anniversary event.
Prabowo went on to reveal that throughout life’s journey, there are various types of friends. There are those who appear during times of joy or when one holds power. In his view, PAN represents the kind of friend present during times of hardship.
“Friends come in various groups; friends have different classifications. There are friends in times of joy, there are friends when we are in power, there are friends in beautiful times, and there are other types of friends—friends in times of hardship,” he stated.
“Thank you, friends from PAN,” Prabowo continued.
He then drew a parallel to the struggle of the nation’s founders during the proclamation of Indonesia’s independence. According to Prabowo, when independence was proclaimed, the situation faced by the founding fathers was not yet fully certain. At that time, some participated in the struggle, some chose to wait and observe developments, and others sided with the colonisers.
Prabowo stated that these values are also reflected in the military education he received. He further explained that in military science, ability is not the only factor considered when selecting troops or subordinates. In his view, ultimately, loyalty is the most vital element.
“Ability, yes. But in the end, it is said that the most important thing is loyalty. Faithfulness,” said Prabowo. “Particularly to the nation and the people.”
