Prabowo Mourns Try Sutrisno: A True Soldier and Humble Leader

President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his sense of loss at the passing of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, Try Sutrisno. Prabowo remembered Sutrisno as a true soldier and a humble leader.

This was conveyed by Prabowo through a post on Instagram on Monday (2 March 2026). Prabowo also uploaded a photograph of himself saluting Try Sutrisno.

“Today Indonesia has lost one of its finest sons, the sixth Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, General Try Sutrisno,” said Prabowo.

“I remember him as a true soldier and a humble leader, firm and unwavering, who placed the nation above all else,” he continued.

Prabowo emphasised Try Sutrisno’s exemplary conduct and courage. Such qualities, said Prabowo, should serve as inspiration for the public.

“His exemplary conduct, courage, and dedication to the nation will always serve as inspiration for us all,” he said.

Try Sutrisno passed away this morning at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Hospital following a 16-day hospital stay. He was then laid to rest at the funeral home on Purwakarta Road Number 6 RT 08 RW 05, Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Subsequently, Try Sutrisno was given a military funeral at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery. Prabowo led the funeral procession in his capacity as inspector.
