Prabowo Mourns Three Police Officers Killed in Drug Raid
President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his condolences following the deaths of three police officers during an operation to arrest a drug lord in Tumbang Kalemei village, Katingan Tengah district, Central Kalimantan. He made the remarks during a speech at the launch of the B50 biodiesel programme at Km 57 rest area in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday. Prabowo initially stressed his commitment to stopping corruption and narcotics, stating that enforcement efforts have seen progress. “Yes, we must stop corruption, we must stop smuggling, we must stop narcotics, we must stop online gambling, and actually there has been a lot of progress. I received a report that online gambling has decreased significantly in one year,” he said. He then addressed the drug eradication effort, conveying his sorrow over the loss of the three police officers in Central Kalimantan. “I also extend my deepest condolences to the police force whose members fell while carrying out a cleansing operation in a village in Kalimantan,” Prabowo stated. “They lost their lives to those who may be protecting or involved in the process of manufacturing or distributing narcotics,” he continued. The fallen officers were identified as First Police Inspector (Anumerta) Sumariyanto, Adjunct Police Inspector One (Anumerta) Yudhie Perdana Putra, and Police Brigadier Two (Anumerta) Nopandri Ramadhana. Following the recovery of all victims, the focus has now shifted entirely to legal proceedings against all parties suspected of involvement in the incident that shook Katingan Regency.
