Prabowo mourns the deaths of three TNI soldiers in peacekeeping mission
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has conveyed his deepest condolences over the deaths of three Indonesian National Army (TNI) soldiers while carrying out their duties in a peacekeeping mission in the Middle East.
Prabowo extended his sympathies to the families of the soldiers and offered his respects for their service and sacrifices in fulfilling their national duties.
“Innalillahi wa innailaihi rajiun, I share in the grief over the deaths of Captain Inf. Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Sergeant Major Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Private Farizal Rhomadon while carrying out the peacekeeping mission in the Middle East,” Prabowo stated via a post on his official Instagram account @prabowo on Tuesday.
Prabowo emphasised that the soldiers’ service represents dedication and bravery in maintaining world peace while bringing honour to Indonesia on the international stage.
The government extends its highest honours for the services and sacrifices of the soldiers who have carried out this noble duty for peace.
The government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also demands a thorough investigation into the series of attacks in Lebanon that resulted in the deaths of Indonesian peacekeeping personnel attached to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) over two consecutive days.
“Indonesia calls for an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation to uncover the facts, including the chronology of events and the responsible parties, and asserts that full accountability must be enforced,” stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via its X account, quoted on Tuesday.
The government stated that the repetition of heinous attacks against Indonesian personnel in such a short time is completely unacceptable.
Indonesia also views these two incidents as reflecting the poor security situation prevailing in Lebanon.
Two Indonesian personnel under UNIFIL were killed on Monday (30/3) in the second attack near Bani Hayyan, Lebanon.
The incident occurred exactly one day after an Indonesian peacekeeping personnel, Private Farizal Rhomadon, was killed due to indirect artillery fire near Adchit Al Qusayr, Lebanon.
These events occurred amid the escalation of conflict between Israel and armed groups in the region.
