Prabowo Mentions PDIP and Marhaenism in Speech, Here's Puan Maharani's Response

House Speaker Puan Maharani assessed President Prabowo Subianto’s speech, which mentioned the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) during the session on the introduction of the 2027 State Budget Bill and its Financial Note, as an encouragement to strengthen national solidarity.

Puan emphasised that the process of advancing Indonesia cannot be carried out partially. Despite the dynamics of differing views in the political arena, President Prabowo stressed the importance of collective synergy in national development.

“As long as it is for the nation and the state, of course we must be able to be united, together,” Puan told journalists after the plenary session on the submission of the 2027 State Budget Bill at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Friday (14/8).

Responding to the Head of State’s statement that the policy is rooted in Marhaenism, the senior politician and Chair of the PDIP Central Executive Board welcomed it positively. In her view, the government’s approach is aligned with a people-oriented vision, provided it remains consistently focused on the welfare of the broader public.

On the basis of that spirit, Puan confirmed that her party is ready to play an active role, to work hand in hand, and to apply the principle of mutual cooperation in overseeing every strategic government policy that favours the public interest.

“Of course PDIP will work shoulder to shoulder, in mutual cooperation, to jointly support the government’s policies,” she asserted.

Earlier, during the state agenda, President Prabowo had expressed appreciation and deep gratitude to the House of Representatives for the positive collaboration and synergy established with the executive, with special mention of PDIP cadres.

“Actually this is not Prabowonomics, this is Marhaenism. PDIP would find it hard not to support this,” President Prabowo said before members of parliament at the Parliament Building in Jakarta.
