JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto expressed thanks to the Governors of Central Java and DKI Jakarta for ordering domestically produced electric buses and trucks from VKTR in Magelang. Prabowo then joked, “Mensesneg, note those governors who do not order domestic products, buses and trucks, and so on. Instruct the TNI to also buy (domestic buses and trucks),” he said during his speech at the inauguration of the VKTR Sakti electric bus and truck assembly plant in Magelang, Central Java, on Thursday (9/4/2026). Prabowo expressed delight that Indonesia has the capability to produce electric buses and trucks. “This is very, very important. And indeed our plan, I hope that by 2028 we will mass-produce electric sedans,” said Prabowo. “And in a short time, perhaps two years from now, we will reach 60 percent. Two years after that, we will reach 80 percent,” he stated. PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas is a company with Anindya Bakrie as its main commissioner, who is also the General Chairman of Kadin. Products from VKTR have already been ordered by the Central Java Provincial Government and Jakarta. “This is something very proud of. So there is already a bus industry, a truck industry. And I thank the Governor of Central Java, who said the Central Java Regional Government has already ordered dozens of buses. From DKI as well, quite a lot, Transjakarta,” said Prabowo.
