Prabowo Meets with Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to Discuss ASRI Programme

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto revealed the details of a meeting held with President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace on Monday (4/5/2026). The meeting discussed university support for the Indonesia ASRI Movement (Safe, Healthy, Clean, Beautiful).

The ASRI programme is an initiative announced by President Prabowo to address waste, enhance cleanliness, and create sustainable environments.

“So, the President asked us from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology how far the progress is on departments, programmes, and lecturers who can help local governments,” said Brian after the meeting.

Brian stated that the President had previously given directions to assist local governments in needed areas, such as waste management and urban planning.

“Such as waste handling and tidiness. Related to the President’s ASRI programme. How local governments can be helped and backed up by university researchers and professors in relevant fields, like architecture for park beauty, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering for waste, and so on,” he said.

In its implementation, Brian hopes that teams from universities will serve as assistants to regional heads to help resolve these issues.

For that, he will soon consolidate with universities such as ITB, UI, UGM, and others to form teams to provide input. “For resolving problems in the regions,” said Brian.
