Prabowo Meets with 13 Major Japanese Business Leaders, Including Toyota and Inpex Executives
President Prabowo Subianto also held a meeting with 13 leaders of major companies in Tokyo, Japan, on Tuesday (31/3/2026). This forms part of his working visit to Japan, following a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at the Akasaka Palace.
“This meeting is part of efforts to strengthen strategic investment cooperation, particularly in promoting industrial downstreaming as a national priority and reinforcing Indonesia’s position in the global supply chain,” quoted from the Cabinet Secretariat’s Instagram on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
It was explained that several major companies present included Toyota Motor Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Panasonic Group. Additionally, there were other strategic companies across various industrial sectors such as INPEX, Marubeni Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, and others.

Takayuki Ueda, President and CEO of INPEX, an energy and oil & gas company
Nobumitsu Hayashi, Governor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), a Japanese government-owned international financing institution
Yoshinobu Tsutsui, Chairman of Keidanren, Japan’s largest business federation
Masayuki Omoto, President and CEO of Marubeni Corporation, a general trading company
Kenichi Hori, President and CEO of Mitsui & Co. Ltd., a global trading and investment company
Kosuke Uemura, President and CEO of Sojitz Corporation, a trading and investment company
Shingo Ueno, President and CEO of Sumitomo Corporation, a global trading and investment company
Christophe Weber, CEO of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, a global pharmaceutical company
Shinichi Sasayama, President and CEO of Tokyo Gas Co. Ltd., an energy and gas company
Kenta Kon, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation, a global automotive company

On this occasion, it was explained that Prabowo seeks to encourage Japanese investors to become more active in expanding investments in Indonesia, particularly in the downstreaming sector, to increase value addition and create jobs.
“With shared vision and strong mutual trust, Indonesia-Japan relations are now entering a new phase that is more concrete, future-oriented, and has positive impacts on the world,” wrote the Cabinet Secretariat.
