Prabowo Meets Turkish Foreign Minister, Appreciates Repatriation of Indonesian Flotilla Activists

According to the Press Bureau on Wednesday (3/6/2026), a meeting was held today following an invitation from President Prabowo to Foreign Minister Fidan. The Turkish Foreign Minister’s visit to Indonesia is part of an effort by both nations to continuously strengthen communication and coordination amidst current regional and global dynamics.

During the meeting, Prabowo specifically expressed his appreciation to His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish Government, particularly regarding the repatriation process of nine Indonesian citizens involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 humanitarian mission. Prabowo noted that Turkey’s support for this humanitarian mission reflects the strong friendship between the two nations and demonstrates a shared commitment to upholding humanitarian values and international solidarity.

Both parties also exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East. The discussions covered various regional dynamics of global concern, specifically the conditions in Iran and Palestine.

As fellow members of the Global South, Indonesia and Turkey share a common view on the importance of maintaining regional stability through dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful resolution. Both sides agreed to continue strengthening coordination to promote de-escalation efforts in various conflicts occurring in the Middle East.

Furthermore, Indonesia and Turkey reaffirmed their shared commitment to continue fighting for justice for the Palestinian people.

The meeting between Prabowo and Fidan reaffirms the close bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Turkey, which has long been established across various sectors. Amid increasingly complex global challenges, both countries have demonstrated a commitment to continued cooperation in advocating for stability, peace, and humanitarian values at the international level.
