Prabowo Meets South Korean President Lee Jae-myung
President Prabowo Subianto met with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on Wednesday morning, 1 April 2026, at Cheong Wa Dae, also known as the Blue House—the name for the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Korea. The Presidential Secretariat’s live broadcast featured the state welcome ceremony for Prabowo’s arrival.
President Lee Jae-myung was seen waiting for Prabowo and his entourage. When the black car carrying Prabowo arrived, President Lee immediately greeted him. The two national leaders shook hands and embraced.
President Prabowo and President Lee then followed the state welcome procession. During the ceremony, the national anthems of both countries—Aegukga and Indonesia Raya—were played.
After the welcome ceremony, the two leaders conducted a session introducing their respective national delegations. President Lee introduced a line-up of delegates from the Land of Ginseng to Prabowo.
Then, Prabowo also introduced his accompanying team. Accompanying Prabowo were, among others, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.
In addition, there were Minister of Investment and Downstreaming as well as Chief Executive Officer of Danantara Indonesia Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to South Korea Cecep Herawan.
After the introduction session, President Prabowo and President Lee entered the Blue House or the Presidential Office of the Republic of Korea.
According to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, spokesperson for the South Korean President, Kang Yu-jung, stated that the two leaders would discuss practical cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, defence and security industry, intellectual property imitation, infrastructure, shipbuilding, nuclear energy, energy transition, and the cultural sector.
Furthermore, it was mentioned that President Prabowo and President Lee Jae-myung would discuss ways to enhance relations between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and South Korea. Subsequently, the two are scheduled to address the security situation and other global issues, including those related to the Korean Peninsula and West Asia.
President Prabowo arrived in South Korea aboard Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft, which landed at Seongnam Military Air Base on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, around 7:15 p.m. local time. Upon arrival in Seongnam, the President was officially welcomed through a honour ceremony.
