Miangas Village is Indonesia’s outermost region located in the Special Miangas Subdistrict, Kepulauan Talaud Regency. The village has a population of 823 people spread across 232 families. Miangas has a unique status because a single subdistrict contains only one village, thus the area is called the Special Miangas Subdistrict. With an area of around 3.5 square kilometres, Miangas is one of Indonesia’s small outer islands with a strategic position at the national border. Prabowo’s visit to Miangas serves as a tangible symbol of the state’s presence up to Indonesia’s outermost points.
