President Prabowo Subianto received the US investor Ray Dalio at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, 27 March 2026. While hosting the founder of the Bridgewater Associates hedge fund, Prabowo was accompanied by several of his ministers.

One of the officials accompanying Prabowo in meeting Ray Dalio was Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. “Earlier, I accompanied the President in receiving Mr Ray Dalio,” said Purbaya after the meeting.

Dalio, according to Purbaya, is one of the figures who has helped promote investment opportunities in Indonesia abroad. In the meeting, they discussed various projects. “There were also some inputs (regarding) several projects that could make our economy move faster,” Purbaya stated.

Purbaya said he did not speak much during the meeting with Ray Dalio. The former head of the Deposit Insurance Corporation said he could not yet detail the projects discussed with Ray Dalio technically.

In broad terms, Purbaya stated that some of the projects discussed with Dalio included plans for developing new special economic zones (KEK). In addition, the President also discussed projects in the energy sector.

According to Purbaya, there will be an addition of one KEK to increase attractiveness for investors. “I don’t understand the details. But it’s like this, there will be an additional special economic zone to attract investors to enter, something like that,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the energy sector, Purbaya said the projects discussed were related to renewable energy power plants. “There are several energy projects and so on. General projects like that,” Purbaya stated.

In addition to Purbaya, several other ministers were also at the Palace during Prabowo’s meeting with Ray Dalio. Among them were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto; Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto; and Minister of Investment and Downstreaming as well as Head of BPI Danantara, Rosan Roeslani.

The other ministers did not speak much about the meeting with Ray Dalio. “Earlier, we received a guest, Mr Ray Dalio. We discussed the current situation,” said Coordinating Minister Airlangga after the meeting.

Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates and a leading global investor, was previously announced to have joined the Advisory Board of BPI Danantara, which was established by President Prabowo Subianto in early 2025. Although there were rumours of him stepping down from the investment management body, Dalio reaffirmed his commitment as an informal and voluntary advisor to support Danantara.
