Prabowo Meets Ray Dalio at Palace to Discuss Strengthening Danantara
President Prabowo Subianto met with Ray Dalio, a member of the Advisory Board of the Investment Management Agency for Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara) Indonesia, at Merdeka Palace on Friday (27/3). The Head of State was accompanied by several ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet’s economic team.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, who also attended the meeting, stated that Dalio expressed his intention to promote Indonesia on the global stage and provide advice to Prabowo.
“There are several suggestions for projects that could accelerate our economy. There are some energy projects and others. Just general projects like that,” Purbaya told reporters.
However, the Finance Minister admitted he did not know the details of the types of projects that would be promoted to drive the national economy. He did reveal that the meeting discussed the development of a new Special Economic Zone (KEK).
“There will be an additional special economic zone to attract investors, something like that. The Coordinating Minister for the Economy will be asked later,” Purbaya explained.
Most likely, he continued, the projects to be promoted by Dalio are related to renewable new energy (EBT). Purbaya assured that he would support the programmes to be determined by Prabowo.
“It seems related to solar power plants. Like that, but I need to study the details again. If the President decides, we support it. But the President must see and know what the information is like, we’ll see what it’s like,” Purbaya concluded.
Issues regarding Ray Dalio’s resignation from his role as advisor to the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI) have recently surfaced in public discourse.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara), Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, emphasised that the collaboration between Danantara Indonesia and Ray Dalio continues as usual.
Asian media outlet Asia Times published an article discussing Danantara’s appointment of several prominent figures to its advisory board, including Ray Dalio and Jeffrey Sachs.
The renowned US investor, Raymond Thomas Dalio (Ray Dalio), highlighted various challenges Indonesia faces in achieving developed nation status.
