TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto received American investor Ray Dalio at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, March 27, 2026. While hosting the founder of hedge fund giant Bridgewater Associates, Prabowo was accompanied by several of his key ministers.

One of the officials accompanying Prabowo during the meeting was Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. “I accompanied the President in receiving Pak Ray Dalio,” Purbaya confirmed following the discussion.

According to Purbaya, Dalio is a figure who has helped promote investment opportunities in Indonesia abroad. During the session, the group discussed a range of initiatives. “There were also some inputs regarding projects that could accelerate our economy,” Purbaya noted.

Purbaya mentioned that he did not speak much during the meeting. The former head of the Deposit Insurance Corporation pointed out that he could not provide technical details about the specific projects discussed with Ray Dalio.

In general, Purbaya said the projects discussed with Dalio include plans for developing new special economic zones (SEZ). In addition, the President discussed projects in the energy sector.

According to Purbaya, there will be the addition of one SEZ to increase attractiveness for investors. “I don’t understand the details. It’s just that there will be an addition of a special economic zone to attract investors to enter, something like that,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the energy sector, Purbaya mentioned that the discussed projects related to renewable energy power plants. “There are several energy projects and others. Common projects like that,” Purbaya said.

In addition to Purbaya, several other ministers were present at the Palace. Among them were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto; Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Brian Yuliarto; and Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry, as well as Head of BPI Danantara, Rosan Roeslani.

The other ministers did not speak extensively about the meeting. “Earlier, we received a guest, Pak Ray Dalio. Discussing the current conditions,” Minister Airlangga said after the meeting.

Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater Associates and a leading global investor, had previously been announced to join the Advisory Board of BPI Danantara, formed by President Prabowo Subianto in early 2025. Although there were rumors of him stepping down from the investment management body, Dalio affirmed his commitment as an informal and voluntary advisor to support Danantara.
