During the meeting, Prabowo was seen personally welcoming Megawati on the palace terrace. Megawati was wearing a blue batik and was escorted by Prabowo as they descended the steps.

Also present on that occasion were House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani, Deputy House Speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Didit Hediprasetyo, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.

Teddy explained that the meeting took place in a warm and familial atmosphere, as part of the bonds of friendship ahead of Eid al-Fitr. Additionally, this meeting also reflects the values of togetherness and unity among the nation’s leaders.

From a written statement, General Secretary of the PDI Perjuangan Central Executive Board, Hasto Kristiyanto, explained that the meeting between the “old friends” took place amicably for more than 2 hours. The topics discussed related to strategic issues of the nation and state, as well as geopolitical matters.

“Mrs Megawati’s extensive experience, especially as the Fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia who was able to resolve multidimensional crises, including various policy approaches that always emphasised the importance of a sense of priority and sense of urgency, was one of the things discussed in that meeting,” read the statement.
