Prabowo Meets Luhut and Chatib at Palace This Afternoon, Here's Dasco's Comment

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad responded to the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto, National Economic Council (DEN) Chairman Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, and DEN member Chatib Basri at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon (9/6/2026).

In a press briefing at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, Dasco stated he had received confirmation from the palace that the meeting was held in Luhut and Chatib’s capacities as chairman and member of the DEN.

“So today the DEN provided input to the President regarding matters related to economic growth strategies. This allows the President to take necessary steps, in addition to analysing the situation alongside the existing economic team,” he said.

According to Dasco, the input from the DEN represents valuable advice for Prabowo in pursuing Indonesia’s economic growth.

When asked whether the meeting indicated Chatib Basri would become finance minister, Dasco denied it. He reiterated that during the meeting, the DEN provided input to Prabowo on boosting economic growth.

“I have confirmed there were no other discussions. Over the past day or two, there have been issues whose sources of truth cannot be verified. But I have confirmed that today’s meeting was purely to receive input from the DEN, chaired by Mr Luhut with Mr Chatib Basri as a member,” said Dasco.
