JAKARTA – President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) at Qasr Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, 26 February 2026.

The Prabowo-MBZ meeting discussed strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing investment cooperation, and addressing several key regional issues.

Prabowo’s diplomatic visit formed part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia-UAE strategic partnership, which has developed considerably in recent years.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that discussions emphasised reinforcing bilateral relations that have been well-established. “The meeting discussed cooperation on investment increases. Bilateral relations are being strengthened,” Teddy said.

Cooperation focused on strategic sectors including energy, infrastructure, and future economic development. In this context, the Prabowo-MBZ meeting on investment reinforced Indonesia’s position as a primary UAE partner in Southeast Asia.

President Prabowo welcomed the commitment and affirmed the government’s readiness to maintain a conducive and sustainable investment climate whilst opening broader collaboration opportunities across various priority national sectors.

Beyond economic aspects, dialogue between the two leaders also addressed regional developments. The Palestinian issue received attention in discussions, consistent with Indonesia’s commitment to supporting Middle East stability and the Palestinian people’s aspirations.

The Ramadan period marked the visit through shared iftar and one-on-one talks between the two leaders.

President Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE Judha Nugraha, and PT Pindad (Persero) Chief Executive Sigit P. Santosa.

President MBZ was accompanied by Deputy Head of the Presidential Court Hamdan bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, Presidential Court Adviser Mohamed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Strategic Affairs Adviser Ahmed Al Mazrouei, Energy and Infrastructure Minister Suhail Al Mazrouei, and UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Obaid Salem Al Dhaheri.

The meeting coincided with the 50th anniversary of Indonesia-UAE diplomatic relations in 2026, marking the next phase of strategic cooperation that is increasingly comprehensive and long-term oriented.
