Prabowo: Masela Block Project to Accelerate Eastern Indonesia's Progress

President Prabowo Subianto believes the Abadi Masela LNG National Strategic Project will become a driver of progress for Indonesia, particularly the Eastern Indonesia region, while simultaneously strengthening national energy self-sufficiency. During the virtual groundbreaking ceremony for the Abadi Masela LNG National Strategic Project from the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, President Prabowo stated the project is a crucial milestone for national development and improving public welfare. “I am confident this project will be a driver of progress for Indonesia, especially Eastern Indonesia,” said President Prabowo. President Prabowo noted that the development of the Masela Block will strengthen national energy independence and become an important milestone for Indonesia’s prosperity. Furthermore, the commencement of construction marks the realisation of a project the public has anticipated for nearly three decades. Therefore, President Prabowo requested all parties ensure the construction process runs smoothly so that it can immediately provide benefits to the community. “The Abadi Masela National Strategic Project is a very important project. We have waited for this project for almost three decades, three decades the people have waited. Alhamdulillah, today we begin its construction,” he said. President Prabowo stated that Indonesia possesses abundant energy resources, including significant oil and gas reserves in the Tanimbar region, Maluku, which must be utilised to strengthen the foundation of national development. The President added that energy sector development will provide the government with greater fiscal space to improve the quality of public services, ranging from healthcare and education to infrastructure development.
