Prabowo made the statement while attending the inauguration of the Marsinah Museum in Nganjuk, East Java, on Saturday (16 May 2026). Prabowo said that it is possible that there is currently no labour museum in the world.

“We can gather this morning in Nganjuk Regency to carry out the inauguration of a museum dedicated to commemorating the struggle of labourers,” said Prabowo.

“This is, I think, perhaps a rare event. Perhaps all over the world, it’s extraordinary. So it turns out, maybe in the whole world, there is only now a labour museum. But please check. There probably is, but this is a rare event,” he continued.

Prabowo said that the museum is not just a place to preserve history. However, it also becomes a symbol of the courage of labourers in fighting for their rights.

“I think this museum was established as a symbol, as a symbol, and as a milestone to commemorate the courage of a fighter, a young fighter, a female fighter, who fought for the rights of labourers,” he said.

Prabowo said that Marsinah’s struggle reflected the struggle of vulnerable groups. Including, fighting for the rights of the poor and those who do not have access to power.

“The struggle is a symbol of the struggle of all those who are on the weak side, poor people, people who have no power, people who have no strength,” he said.

Prabowo also mentioned the tragedy of Marsinah’s murder which occurred while fighting for the rights of factory workers. According to him, the incident should not have happened.

“In fact, the incident of Marsinah being brutally murdered for fighting for factory workers in a company, should not have happened at all,” he said.

“Because our country, we founded it with the basic philosophy of Pancasila. That is the brilliance of our founding fathers and it is enshrined in our Constitution, in the preamble, and that is the consensus, the agreement. We can unite, among other things, because of Pancasila,” he added. (amw/zap)
