Prabowo Mania 08 urges calm ahead of 27 August protest
Prabowo Mania 08 has urged the public to maintain order and not be provoked by issues that could divide national unity ahead of a planned demonstration on 27 August 2026.
Agustin Lumban Gaol, Secretary General of Prabowo Mania 08 and an activist with the 98 Resolution Network, said the public still has the right to express their aspirations, but this must be done constitutionally, in an orderly manner, and peacefully.
“Let us safeguard and nurture national unity, and ensure that no party exploits this protest to divide us,” Agustin said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He said his organisation supports the government’s stance that the public should not be easily provoked by various circulating issues.
According to him, the public also needs to respect those who wish to express their aspirations through demonstrations.
Agustin also expressed support for public aspirations, including demands that the Asset Forfeiture Bill be passed immediately by the House of Representatives.
“We support the House of Representatives’ move to pass the Asset Forfeiture Bill immediately. The assets of corruptors must be seized for the state and the people,” he said firmly.
Regarding the planned 27 August protest, he asked security forces, including the National Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, and intelligence agencies, to verify information about the demonstration so that the public is not unsettled by unverified reports.
“The public must not be disturbed by information whose truth is unclear. Therefore, it needs to be confirmed whether the protest will actually take place or whether it is simply false information,” he said.
Agustin again urged the public not to be provoked and to continue maintaining order.
According to him, this situation needs attention because global geopolitical conditions remain uncertain, while Indonesia is also facing various disaster-related problems.
He called on the public to show concern for the nation’s condition, including for communities affected by natural disasters.
Agustin also invited the public from Sabang to Merauke, and from Rote Island to Miangas, to support President Prabowo Subianto, whom he believes is focused on improving people’s welfare through various government priority programmes.
These programmes include Free Nutritious Meals, the Red and White Village Cooperative, Free Health Check-ups, public housing, food security, People’s Schools, downstreaming, and strengthening the energy sector.
“Including the eradication of corruption and other priority programmes. Let us jointly oversee these programmes so that they run well and their benefits can be felt directly by the public,” Agustin said.
