Prabowo Makes Third Visit to France, emphasises strong Indonesia-France ties

President Prabowo Subianto visited France and met with President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Thursday, 28 May 2026. This marked his third trip to the country this year. Prabowo expressed gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Indonesia and France, which he described as being at their best.

He recalled Indonesia’s participation in last year’s Bastille Day parade on 14 July 2025, calling it a significant honour and possibly the first time an Asian nation had been invited to such a European parade. Prabwo praised Macron’s leadership and shared aligned positions on international matters, particularly in defence, science, technology, and education. He also revealed that he has directed all Indonesian schools to teach French, citing future global developments as the reasoning.
