Prabowo: Major Transformations Not Easy Amidst Corruption Group Resistance
President Prabowo Subianto stated that Indonesia is undergoing various transformation initiatives. He said the transformation strategies being implemented align with Pancasila values.
“Brothers and sisters, based on that, the government is currently implementing various transformation steps. We are not just talking about development; we now have bolder aspirations. We will continuously carry out the nation’s transformation strategy. Our strategy is essentially a transformation towards a course aligned with Pancasila,” Prabowo said during his speech at the Pancasila Day ceremony at the Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Central Jakarta, on Monday, 1 June 2026.
Prabowo outlined transformation efforts focused on strengthening natural resources and the national economy, ensuring Indonesia’s wealth does not flow overseas.
“We are strengthening the downstreaming of natural resources, building national food security, and bolstering cooperatives and rural economies. We continue to provide free nutritious meals to build a healthy, strong, and intelligent Indonesian generation. We are enhancing education, healthcare, and human development. We are improving governance to prevent the nation’s wealth from continuing to leak and flow overseas,” he said.
Prabowo noted that major transformations are not easy to implement, stating Indonesia will face numerous challenges ahead.
“Brothers and sisters, a transformation, a major change is not easy. We will face obstacles, we will face challenges. We may also encounter resistance from groups that favour corruption, smuggling, and illegal economic activities,” he said.
Prabowo added that resistance may come from those who do not love the homeland, but stressed Indonesia, as a great nation, must have the courage to make decisions.
“We may face resistance from those who do not love the homeland and seek to weaken the Republic of Indonesia. But a great nation must be brave. We must have the courage to make correct decisions even if difficult, and to defend our people. We must not pass on short-term ease at the expense of our children and grandchildren’s future,” he said.
Prabowo stated Indonesia does not wish to be dependent on other nations, adding that no country will feel sympathy for Indonesia even in times of hardship and hunger.
“No country is independent without prosperity. We do not want to be a nation dependent on others. Because in reality, no other nation will feel sympathy for us,” he said.
“If we are in trouble, if our people are hungry, if our people are in hardship, no other nation or power will feel sympathy or assist us,” he added.
