JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto has stated that maintaining peace cannot be achieved through prayer and hope alone.

He emphasised that peace can be achieved through effort (ikhtiar) and hard work.

This statement was made by Prabowo whilst delivering remarks at the state-level Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration for the year 1447 H/2026 M at the State Palace in Jakarta’s Central District on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

“Certainly, maintaining peace is not achieved merely through prayer and hope, but also through effort and hard work to achieve prosperity and justice,” Prabowo said on Tuesday evening.

The Head of State emphasised that Indonesia will work very hard to maintain peace.

Prabowo committed to respecting all powers in the world, both from large and small nations.

“This is the path shown to us by our nation’s founders. This path has also been shown by nearly all religious leaders from all faiths, that we will work very hard to maintain peace,” he explained.

He stated that Indonesia has been blessed with great wealth and abundant natural resources.

Therefore, Prabowo also declared that he will work hard to eliminate poverty, hunger, and suffering from all citizens.

“We are capable; we have been given sufficient wealth by the Almighty. Now it is the leaders who must work well,” Prabowo asserted.

Furthermore, practices that are incorrect and improper are forbidden by all religions.

“This is a religious teaching, and it is also a lesson from history. No nation has succeeded when its government is unable to cleanse itself from corruption. This is a religious teaching and a lesson from history,” said Prabowo.
