President Prabowo was personally welcomed by his French counterpart, along with a guard of honor, during his arrival at the Élysée Palace. After a short photo opportunity, Macron invited Prabowo to the Les Salon des Portraits room for their tete-a-tete session.

According to the Presidential Secretariat, in its statement on Wednesday, the bilateral meeting became a strategic platform for the two leaders to discuss bilateral relations.

The two leaders also “exchanged views on developing global issues” during their talks, the Presidential Secretariat noted.

After concluding their tete-a-tete, President Macron hosted a banquet for his Indonesian counterpart. The Presidential Secretariat described the occasion as “part of high-level diplomacy to strengthen personal relations between the leaders and the foundation of bilateral partnership.”

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya accompanied President Prabowo during his meeting with President Macron.

The president visited Paris after completing a five-hour meeting with President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin earlier that day.

The Cabinet Secretary explained that the Prabowo-Macron meeting provided an important opportunity for the Indonesian leader to present his strategic views on global dynamics, including the ongoing conflict between Iran, the United States, and Zionist Israel.

“In the meeting, Mr. President, besides strengthening cooperation with the French government, also presented Indonesia’s view on maintaining stability and encouraging world peace,” Wijaya said on a separate occasion.

This marks Prabowo’s second visit to the French capital in 2026, following his January trip, during which he accepted an invitation from Macron for a meeting and dinner at the Élysée Palace.

He was also in Paris last July to observe the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) contingent parading alongside French armed forces soldiers during the Bastille Day commemoration along the Champs-Élysées.
