Prabowo Lowers Fuel Price for 30-200 GT Vessels to Rp15,000 per Litre

The government has once again demonstrated its support for fishermen and the fisheries sector. On the instruction of President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, the price of fuel oil (BBM) for fishing businesses operating vessels of 30 GT to 200 GT has been set at Rp15,000 per litre.

This policy is expected to ease operational costs while providing business certainty for players in the national fisheries sector.

This was announced by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto following a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia at Padepokan Garuda Yaksa in Bogor, West Java, on Monday, 13 July 2026.

“Today there was a meeting with the President. One of the agenda items discussed was the price of fuel specifically for fishing businesses that own vessels measuring 30 GT up to 200 GT,” said Airlangga, quoted on Tuesday, 14 July 2026.

According to Airlangga, the President issued the instruction after observing developments in the fuel prices used by fishermen.

“The President’s instruction came because we see that the price of B50, which is specifically for fishermen with boats under 30 GT, has already been set at Rp6,800, while the non-subsidised fuel price recently surged to Rp21,300,” he said.

Accordingly, the government decided to grant a special price for fishermen operating vessels of 30 GT up to 200 GT.

“Because these fishing businesses need to be given a special price, it was discussed earlier that the agreed price is Rp15,000 per litre. Then, the non-subsidised fuel price, based on the average production cost of diesel domestically, is set at Rp18,600,” he explained.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will promptly issue a regulation concerning this policy. Airlangga explained that a subsidy of around Rp3,600 per litre will be funded through the Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP), so it will not burden the state budget.

“Therefore, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources will issue a regulation on that subsidy. The subsidy amounts to approximately Rp3,600 per litre and will be financed by BPDP,” he said.

The government has also set the distribution quota for this special fuel for the next six months.

“For this policy, a quota of 400,000 tonnes has also been allocated for the next six months,” said Airlangga.
