Prabowo: Let Us Be Bold in Facing the Challenges

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — President Prabowo Subianto has delivered the Macro Economic Framework and the Core Principles of Fiscal Policy for the 2027 State Budget in Plenary Session 19 of the House of Representatives at the Plenary Hall of the MPR/DPR/DPD Complex in the Senayan Parliament, Jakarta, on Wednesday 20 May 2026. In his speech, Prabowo highlighted fundamental aspects relating to Indonesia’s economy. He also recalled the suffering of the nation’s forebears.

“Let us be bold in facing problems, even if they are challenges, obstacles, or deficiencies,” he said.

Regarding the management of the country’s economy, according to the head of state, it has been formulated by the founders of the Indonesian nation. They were not naive or gullible. “They felt colonialism; they felt being colonised, humiliated, enslaved, having the dignity and honour of the nation stripped away, the dignity of our nation stripped away. They witnessed and felt the erasure of all honour and all self-confidence in our nation, in our culture, in our history,” he said.

“They felt what imperialism meant; they felt that the Indonesian nation was placed in a status below a dog; they saw and felt the wealth of Nusantara stolen for hundreds of years by our colonisers to enrich them,” he continued.
