President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka led the entire Red and White Cabinet in paying zakat at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March. The zakat payment was conducted through the National Zakat Agency (Baznas).

Vice President Gibran arrived first at 15:54 West Indonesian Time, wearing a white shirt paired with black trousers. President Prabowo arrived at approximately 16:00 West Indonesian Time, wearing a cream safari suit with a black peci cap.

Before the President and Vice President, members of the Red and White Cabinet had already made their zakat payments. These included Coordinating Minister for Government Affairs Muhaimin Iskandar, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, and Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights and Security Yusril Ihza Mahendra.

Also present were Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni, Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister Nusron Wahid, and Interior Minister Tito Karnavian.

In his remarks, Prabowo stated that zakat payments can reduce social inequality. He further noted that zakat also represents a form of social justice that must be implemented. Prabowo highlighted that Baznas plays an important role in reducing extreme poverty in Indonesia, remarking that the agency is highly respected both domestically and internationally for its efforts to assist people in need.

“Paying zakat is a reflection of the spirit of mutual cooperation and efforts to reduce social inequality; zakat is a manifestation of social justice and the equitable distribution of prosperity,” Prabowo said at the State Palace.
