Prabowo Leads Funeral Procession of Indonesia's 6th Vice President Try Sutrisno

President Prabowo Subianto directly led the state funeral of Indonesia’s 6th Vice President Try Sutrisno at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP Kalibata) in Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026. The funeral procession commenced at approximately 13:45 Western Indonesian Time.

Prabowo presented a floral wreath to Sutrisno’s grave, followed by wreaths from family members. In his remarks at the ceremony, Prabowo stated: “I, President of the Republic of Indonesia, on behalf of the nation, people, and the Indonesian National Armed Forces, hereby present to the motherland the soul, body, and services of the deceased, Try Sutrisno, 6th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, serving from 1993-1998, and Commander of the Armed Forces from 1988-1993.”

The funeral proceeded with solemnity despite rainfall during the ceremony. The procession was attended by numerous former officials, including 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and 10th and 12th Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla.

Try Sutrisno passed away at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Hospital at 06:58 Western Indonesian Time. His family attributed his death to declining health due to his advanced age of 90 years.
