Prabowo Leads Funeral Ceremony for Try Sutrisno, Presents National Flag to Family

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto presented the national flag and presidential honours at the conclusion of the funeral service for Try Sutrisno, Indonesia’s sixth Vice President.

The funeral was held at the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery with full military honours on Monday, 2 March 2026.

Prabowo served as the ceremony’s chief inspector and was accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The Head of State also laid a wreath at Sutrisno’s grave, followed by wreaths from family members.

Several notable figures attended the funeral procession, including former sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), tenth and twelfth Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla (JK), and eleventh Vice President Boediono.

Also present were TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, Air Force Chief of Staff Air Marshal Mohammad Tonny Harjono, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

The body was subsequently laid to rest at a funeral home in the Menteng district of Central Jakarta.

The family stated that the deceased had no known medical conditions that contributed to his death on Monday, 2 March 2026.

The funeral prayer was conducted at the Great Mosque of Sunda Kelapa in Central Jakarta.
