Prabowo: Leaders Who Advocate Arson Are Traitors!

President Prabowo Subianto stressed that differing political parties in Indonesia are not a problem. However, Prabowo brought up the issue of certain parties advocating a ‘burning’ movement in the republic.

This was conveyed by Prabowo at the peak of National Cooperative Day at Indonesia Arena, GBK, Jakarta, Sunday (12/7/2026). Prabowo initially spoke about eradicating corruption, including the state-owned enterprises that have been brought into order under his leadership.

‘Different parties are not a problem. Every few years we compete properly. There is no problem,’ Prabowo said in his speech.

He stated that whoever wins will be supported. Prabowo mentioned that the losing side should not advocate for arson.

‘Whoever wins, please go ahead. Do not, if you lose, want to burn things down. What kind of nation is that? A leader who advocates arson in this republic is a traitorous leader, ladies and gentlemen,’ said Prabowo.

Prabowo expressed his belief in the law of karma for those who created the call for arson. He then stressed that after losing four times in presidential elections, he never ordered his followers to burn things or demonstrate.

‘I believe the law of karma will befall all of them. I ran in elections five times, lost four times, and I never once told my followers to burn things. I did not even tell them to demonstrate. I attended the inauguration of my rival, I came, I paid my respects, I offered my congratulations,’ he asserted.

He stated that competition is a good thing. He said competition is normal and must be accepted by all parties.

‘Competition is good, contests are good. Right? In football there is a match, right, there are two sides. One must win. If one loses, should the referee be beaten up? Yes? Competition is normal. There is no problem, yes,’ he added.
