Prabowo: Law Must Not Be Used as Tool for Political Revenge

President Prabowo Subianto reminded that the law must not be misused as a tool for political revenge. The Head of State made this statement while acting as the inspector of the ceremony for Bhayangkara Day on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, in the Cikeas area, Bogor, West Java. In his address, Prabowo stressed that the law should not be sharp downwards and blunt upwards. “The law must not become a tool for those with money. The law must not be a tool for political revenge. The law must not be used for the interests of any single group,” Prabowo stated at the Police Mobile Brigade Corps Training Unit in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday morning. The Chairman of the Gerindra Party emphasised that Indonesia is a state based on law. Therefore, the law must be valued, respected, and upheld. “There must be no criminalisation. There must be no abuse of authority, and no one should be immune to the law,” he said. Prabowo stated that the law must be a protector of the people. For him, the law should provide a sense of security for honest citizens. “The law must be a refuge for the weak,” said the former Minister of Defence under the Joko Widodo administration. Prabowo then reiterated that the weakest people must receive protection. Furthermore, people seeking truth and justice must be served. “Those who are innocent must feel safe. Those who are guilty must be held accountable for their actions,” he said. The Indonesian National Police held a ceremony to commemorate its 80th anniversary in Cikeas, Bogor, this morning. This year’s Bhayangkara Day carries the theme ‘80 Years of Police Service to the Community’. The series of commemorations was enlivened with various displays and parades, including demonstrations of police personnel capabilities such as tactical vehicle convoys, parachute jumps, and troop parades from various Police, Indonesian Military, and Police partner units.
