Prabowo: Law Must Be Used to Protect the Nation's and State's Wealth
President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has emphasised that the law is an instrument that must be used to protect the nation’s and state’s wealth. He added that the nation’s wealth can make the people prosperous.
The President made this statement at the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) in South Jakarta on Friday, 10 April 2026.
“I strongly agree that the law is an instrument for protecting the nation’s and state’s wealth. Without the nation’s and state’s wealth, it is impossible for our people to live prosperously. We have no other choice,” said Prabowo.
The Head of State added that the government still has a long journey to bring prosperity to the people. There are many challenges to face, such as budget leakages and smuggling.
“The journey is still long, leakages are still occurring, smuggling is still happening,” he said.
Therefore, he asked all relevant parties, such as TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, to help each other stop smuggling.
He asked related ministries and institutions to use their authority to enforce the law.
“TNI Commander, Police Chief, Finance Minister, you have institutions whose task is to stop smuggling. Use all the authority you have to enforce that. And all institutions at every level must work together to enforce the law,” he stated.
On the other hand, Prabowo acknowledged that many PKH Task Force members receive threats because they are saving the state’s finances from mafias. He also expressed respect to all PKH Task Force members.
“Brothers and sisters, protecting the state’s wealth, saving the state’s wealth is truly an honourable and noble job,” said Prabowo.
“There are among us, we must admit, within our bureaucracy, within our institutions, there are individuals who are given tasks and honours by the state but use their authority and power to help those who steal from the state’s money. We understand that,” he added.
