Prabowo Launches Food Storage and Nutritional Support Projects for the National Police
President Prabowo Subianto launched projects for food storage facilities and nutritional support units (SPPG) belonging to the Indonesian National Police (Polri). Ten Polri Food Security Warehouses will be built, and 166 Polri SPPG units are ready to operate.
Prabowo expressed his appreciation to the government, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and Polri for supporting various programs in the fields of food and nutrition. “They are the key, they are our team, my team, working together to lead this country,” he said in a written statement from the Presidential Secretariat, Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The General Chairman of the Gerindra Party inaugurated the construction of 10 Type 654 Polri Food Security Warehouse units, each with a storage capacity of up to 1,000 tons.
The warehouses are spread across several regions, namely West Sumatra, Riau, South Sumatra (two units), Bengkulu, Banten, West Kalimantan, Southeast Sulawesi (two units), and North Maluku.
In addition to the construction of food warehouses, Polri also launched the operation of 166 SPPG units in various regions of Indonesia as a form of support for the implementation of the free nutritious meal program.
The operation of these public kitchens is spread across several Regional Police (Polda), including 39 units in the Banten Polda, 17 units in the North Sumatra Polda, 16 units in the Central Java Polda, 14 units in the Jakarta Metropolitan Polda, and 8 units in the Free Nutritious Meal Task Force.
The inauguration ceremony for the Polri Food Security Warehouse and Polri SPPG took place in Tuban, East Java. Prabowo gave a speech at the event, discussing the important role of the police in national food security.
Previously, Prabowo explained the reason why the military and police are involved in food-related matters in the government’s priority programs. Prabowo claimed that the involvement of the TNI and Polri is because both forces are part of the people.
The Head of State conveyed this when giving a speech at the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremony of the Nutritional Support Unit (SPPG) Polri and the inauguration of the Food Security Warehouse at the Palmerah Sector Police, West Jakarta. In front of state officials and high-ranking Polri officers, Prabowo responded to criticism from experts and observers in foreign media.
