Prabowo Laughs Off Trump's 'I Don't Wanna Fight Him' Remark
US President Donald Trump heaped praise on President Prabowo Subianto, going so far as to declare he would not want to fight him, during the inaugural Board of Peace (BoP) summit in Washington DC. Prabowo responded to Trump's remarks with characteristic brevity.
"No, he was just joking, ha-ha-ha...," Prabowo said briefly after the BoP summit in Washington DC on Thursday (19 February 2026) local time.
Trump's praise was delivered during his opening address at the summit. On that occasion, Trump lauded Prabowo as a formidable figure.
"A man that I really like a lot, he is definitely tough, I don't wanna fight him, President Prabowo of Indonesia," Trump said in his opening speech at the BoP meeting on Thursday.
"He is a big guy," Trump added.
Trump also praised Indonesia as a great nation. He said Prabowo was a figure respected by leaders of other countries.
"I said 'how many people in Indonesia?' He said like '240 millions', I said 'No, no, say that again, how many?', it's a big country you have, and you do a great job and respected by everybody," Trump explained.
