Prabowo: Judge the Government's Achievements in 10-20 Years
President Prabowo Subianto stated that an assessment of the current government’s achievements should not be made in the short term. However, according to Prabowo, the impact of his administration’s performance can be seen within a timeframe of 10-20 years.
This was conveyed by Prabowo during the inauguration of 1,061 Desa Merah Putih (Red and White Village) Cooperatives in Nganjuk, East Java, on Saturday (May 16, 2026). Prabowo also mentioned the formation of Danantara.
“We now have Danantara, and in 10 years, 20 years, there will still be many young people. Remember, look at the date, look at the year, you will see what we are doing this year (2025), next year (2026). Don’t judge it now, don’t judge it in 2029, but rather in 20 years,” Prabowo said in his speech.
“We are making fundamental changes. The programs we are running are steps to strengthen the national economy. These include achieving food self-sufficiency, stabilizing prices, creating jobs, and strengthening the country’s sovereign wealth fund.”
Prabowo stated that several ongoing programs are aimed at strengthening the national economy. Among these are achieving food self-sufficiency, ensuring price stability, creating employment opportunities, and bolstering the nation’s sovereign wealth fund.
“We have achieved food self-sufficiency, we are stabilizing prices, we are creating jobs – millions of them, in fact. We now have a sovereign wealth fund, which is perhaps the sixth largest in the world,” he said.
Prabowo mentioned that Indonesia currently has an institution managing state assets with a value of around $1 trillion. According to him, Indonesia’s position is even above Saudi Arabia and Singapore.
“The assets we manage now are worth $1 trillion. We are among the top five largest in the world. This was established in 2025,” Prabowo said.
“Abu Dhabi was established in 1976, China in 1997, CIC from China also in 2007, and Norway in 1990. Norway has the largest fund. It is a very small country with very large savings. We are even above Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. So, this could be our country too,” he added.
Furthermore, Prabowo discussed the impact and benefits of the free nutritious food program (MBG) for villages. According to him, since the implementation of MBG, coupled with the Desa Merah Putih Cooperatives, billions of rupiah are circulating in the villages.
“Every day, 3,000 transactions occur in each village, worth 15,000 rupiah each, some more, some less. That’s 45 million rupiah per day. Five days a week, four weeks a month, that’s 20 days times 45 million rupiah, which equals 900 million rupiah per month, multiplied by 12 months, totaling 10.8 billion rupiah,” he said.
He stated that this figure of 10.8 billion rupiah represents the amount of money circulating in the villages due to MBG. He explained that while 500 million rupiah from village funds is used for MBG, this money will be recouped within six years.
“This 10.8 billion rupiah circulates in the villages. Previously, before MBG, we allocated 1 billion rupiah in village funds. With MBG, we are adding 10 billion rupiah. We use 500 million rupiah from the village funds first, but it will be recovered within six years,” he said.
Prabowo mentioned that besides the circulation of billions of rupiah, producers in the villages also benefit from the program. He stated that farmers and traders in the villages can feel the benefits of MBG.
“In each village, 10.8 billion rupiah is circulating, which means those who cultivate catfish can sell their produce, those who grow shallots can sell them, those who make tempeh can have it purchased, and those who sell eggs can do so. All producers in the villages are thriving, and we can reduce logistical costs because they don’t need to go far to market; the market is right there in their village,” he said.
“This is the impact of MBG. Hundreds of trillions of rupiah will circulate in the villages and districts if we use what they say should be a free market, neoliberalism, where large capital will dominate, and people’s money will be drained, eventually ending up abroad, with only the excess remaining for us,” he added.
Prabowo believes that MBG and Desa Merah Putih Cooperatives can boost the economy. Although, he acknowledged that there are some challenges to overcome.
“MBG combined with Desa Merah Putih Cooperatives will revitalize our economy,” he concluded.
