Prabowo Jokes That Police Chief and TNI Commander Are 'Hard to Replace'

President Prabowo Subianto joked that Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo are difficult to replace from their respective positions. The jest was made by the Head of State while attending the peak event of the 17th National Farmers and Fishermen Week 2026.

Prabowo initially greeted his aides from the Red and White Cabinet who were present at the event. “TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo,” said Prabowo in Gorontalo Regency on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, as broadcast via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.

The Chairman of the Gerindra Party then added, “The TNI Commander has ‘Subiyanto’ in his name, the National Police Chief has ‘Prabowo’. It would be difficult to replace them.”

Prabowo’s statement was met with laughter from the attendees. It is known that General Agus Subiyanto has officially served as TNI Commander since 22 November 2023. Agus was inaugurated by then-President Joko Widodo at the State Palace, replacing Admiral TNI Yudo Margono who entered retirement on 26 November 2023.

Meanwhile, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo was inaugurated as National Police Chief by Jokowi on 27 January 2021. Sigit replaced General Idham Azis, who entered retirement on 1 February 2021.
