Prabowo Jokes at PAN Anniversary, Prefers to be Called Mas Bowo

President Prabowo Subianto attended the 28th anniversary celebration of the National Mandate Party (PAN) held at JCC Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday, 18 September 2026. In his speech, Prabowo joked that he would prefer to be called “Bang Bowo” or “Mas Bowo” by the PAN family rather than “Mbah Bowo” or “Eyang Bowo”.

He made these jokes while describing his closeness to the PAN family. Prabowo stated that while he is formally present in his capacity as President, within this familial atmosphere, he prefers to be regarded as a brother or an elder sibling.

“I stand here as your brother. I would prefer to be considered your brother, your elder brother, not your grandfather,” said Prabress Prabowo.

The President then mentioned several forms of address that he believes the PAN family could use to call him. He even warned against being addressed with the titles “Mbah” or “Eyang”.

“I like it if you call me Bang Bowo. Watch out if you call me Mbah Bowo or Eyang Bowo,” he said, which was met with laughter from the audience.

Prabowo even quipped that he would not return to PAN events if addressed with such titles.

“I won’t come back to PAN if you call me that. Bang Bowo is okay, Kang Bowo is okay,” he remarked.

He noted that the title “Kang Bowo” could also be used, particularly by the Sundanese people. However, among the various options, Prabowo admitted he prefers the name “Mas Bowo”.

“It feels better if called Mas Bowo. Careful now, if you call me Aki,” he concluded.
