Prabowo jokes about reshuffling Zulkifli Hasan
President Prabowo Subianto joked about wanting to replace the Minister Coordinating Ministry for Food, Zulkifli Hasan, because Zulkifli misnamed the village they visited during a official duty trip to Kebumen, Central Java on Saturday, 23 May 2026.
Prabowo attended Kebumen to take part in a shrimp harvest festival. He also delivered a speech before local residents and officials. During his speech, when Prabowo wanted to mention the name of the village where the harvest took place, Zulkifli whispered to the Gerindra Party chairman that the village was named Karangduwur.
However, the crowd exclaimed, informing that the correct village name is Tegalretno. Prabowo then invited one of the residents to the podium to pronounce the village name correctly via loudspeaker. “Desa Tegalretno, Kecamatan Petahanan,” the man said.
The President then quipped about wanting to oust Zulhas—short for Zulkifli Hasan—from his position for giving incorrect information. “Oh dear, this Coordinating Minister just now got it wrong. Wrong name. Do we need a reshuffle, perhaps?” Prabowo said in front of the people, as broadcast by the Secretariat of the Presidency.
The people, according to Prabowo, then replied, ‘No’. “No? Oh, good that the people still love you (Zulkifli Hasan),” said the former defence minister.
Prabowo attended the shrimp harvest festival in Kebumen, Central Java, with a number of ministers, including Zulkifli Hasan. Prabowo, wearing a brown safari shirt and a dark blue cap, even helped haul a net thrown by a shrimp farmer.
He was assisted by several people as he pulled the net. After harvesting a net full of vannamei shrimp or white-leg shrimp, Prabowo continued the event by delivering a speech in a tent set up near the site.
Prabowo said the kawasan-based shrimp farming pond project in Kebumen has been running for three years. The pond was inaugurated by former president Joko Widodo and former Central Java governor Ganjar Pranowo on 9 March 2023.
“Today I am here to witness the harvest of this project, which has been running for three years and the harvest now is at the highest level, at a world level,” Prabowo said, as broadcast by the Secretariat of the Presidency.
Prabowo said one hectare of the pond can yield up to one tonne of shrimp. He regarded the production level as an extraordinary achievement.
He estimated that one hectare could generate tens of millions of rupiah per harvest. “Therefore with a very good price, the price is Rp 70,000 per kilo at the minimum, so per tonne Rp 70 million,” Prabowo said.
