Prabowo: It Is Inappropriate to Call Economic Policy 'Prabowonomics'

President Prabowo Subianto has stated that the economic concept often referred to as ‘Prabowonomics’ is not his personal idea, but rather a mandate derived from the 1945 Constitution. Speaking at the peak celebration of the 28th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB) in Jakarta on Thursday evening, he asserted that the current economic policies are based on Pancasila and are designed to ensure the nation’s resources are managed for the greatest possible benefit of the people. ‘I am moved because PKB, during its anniversary, so firmly expressed support for our new economic direction,’ Prabowo said. ‘To be honest, it is not appropriate for you to use my name for that. The firmness of my struggle, my beliefs, are the beliefs in the ideals of the nation’s founders.’ The President questioned how the nation could provide a decent life for its citizens if the country’s wealth was continuously taken abroad and not enjoyed by the people. Prabowo attended the event at the Jakarta Convention Center accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar.
