Prabowo Issues Stern Warning: No Tolerance for False Reports

President Prabowo Subianto issued a stern warning to his officials during remarks delivered at the first anniversary celebration of Danantara at Wisma Danantara in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2025, cautioning against submitting false reports.

“Do not play games with me any more with false reports. Pleasant-sounding reports. Reports designed to manipulate. I am issuing this stern warning,” Prabowo stated clearly.

The warning was prompted by reports regarding Danantara’s performance. Within its first year of operation, the state asset management company achieved a 300 per cent increase in return on assets (RoA) compared to previous years.

“I received a report and I was quite pleased. The return on asset for 2025 compared to previous years has increased by more than 300 per cent. This is quite good,” Prabowo said.

Should the reports prove accurate, the President expressed pride and gratitude for the achievement. He attributed this to sound management combined with strong political will, which he argued naturally produces good results.

“This also proves our premise in establishing Danantara—that good management is impossible unless it is under one control, in one hand, in one management structure,” he explained.

Nevertheless, Prabowo emphasised that the current achievement remains insufficient. He outlined benchmarks for corporate performance: a good company achieves a minimum 10 per cent return on assets, a very good company reaches 12 per cent, and an exceptional company achieves 15 per cent return on assets.

Given Danantara’s first year of operation, Prabowo set a minimum target of 5 per cent RoA. With total managed assets valued at US$1 trillion, Danantara must generate a minimum of US$50 billion, or approximately 800 trillion rupiah, annually.

“So the Danantara leadership, your targets remain far off. But that is fine. I am confident and believe that the key to good management lies in the heart and soul. Therefore, whilst in this first year I express my thanks and congratulations on your achievements, I remind you that targets still remain quite distant. You must be able to deliver a 5 per cent minimum return back to the state. A minimum of US$50 billion,” Prabowo emphasised.
