Prabowo Issues Presidential Regulation on Task Force for Mitigating Layoffs and Worker Welfare

President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has issued a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) regarding the Task Force (Satgas) for Mitigating Termination of Employment and Worker Welfare.

The establishment of the task force, based on Presidential Decree Number 10 of 2026, was announced by Prabowo during his speech at the International Labour Day or May Day 2026 event at Monas, Jakarta, on Friday (1/5).

“Brothers and sisters. I have issued Presidential Decree Number 10 of 2026 on the establishment of the Task Force for Mitigating Termination of Employment and Worker Welfare,” said Prabowo.

“Do not worry, we will defend the interests of workers. Those threatened with layoffs, we will defend and we will protect,” Prabowo added.

Prabowo stated that the state is ready to take over to ensure protection for the workforce continues.

“If there are entrepreneurs who give up, do not worry, our state is strong, our state will take over. Our state will defend the Indonesian people,” he said.

Prabowo also touched on the global situation currently enveloped in economic uncertainty and crises in various countries. Nevertheless, he assessed that Indonesia remains in a relatively safe condition compared to other countries.

“The whole world is in a state of crisis, many countries are already panicking, we are still safe,” he said.

In addition, Prabowo emphasised national resilience, particularly in the food and energy sectors, as an important factor in maintaining economic stability. Prabowo stated that Indonesia has achieved food self-sufficiency and is heading towards energy independence in the coming years.

“We are food self-sufficient, our food is secure, our fuel is still secure. Not long from now, we will be energy self-sufficient,” said Prabowo.
